A farmer of Bothaville in the Free State died of complications from injuries sustained during a farm attack in December 2017. The wife of Gerrie Labuschagne (64), Annetjie, confirmed that Gerrie has died. The couple was attacked on their farm Normandie, on the Humansvlakte on 3 December 2017. They had just arrived back from church and had stopped under the carport when the three black male attackers attacked them and beat Gerrie over the head with a steel pipe repeatedly. Annetjie could get hold of her firearm and wounded one attacker after which the attackers fled. The 3 attackers were arrested in the vicinity when farmers in the area responded. The 3 attackers are still on trial. One of the attackers worked on the farm he attacked. A friend of Gerrie, Thinus Barnard, told the media that Gerrie was a fit and healthy farmer until he was attacked. How the ANC brainwashed the world to accept slaughter of SA farmers

Published by Opinion by Crime Correspondent, South Africa News on 25th February 2020

The more the ANC’s criminal nature, incompetence and large scale looting is revealed, the more the ANC needs to keep the narrative in place that all land was stolen by whites. This of course is to keep black majority support.

The ANC, supported by liberal media, is deliberately creating the notion that whites are evil thieves against who the black majority needs to be protected. This perception leads to a sort of justification amongst the black majority, the international community and even some whites who are naive that it is acceptable to murder and rob whites.

A target is in other words being painted on the white community and this has been happening for decades. As an example, it should be remembered how the ANC MP Duduzile Promise Manana shouted ” Bury them alive” in Parliament, referring to white farmers, when Dr Pieter Mulder of the FF Plus initiated a debate on farm murders in 2017.

This narrative – Cyril Ramaphosa is a good example of a man speaking in narratives and code – is being used by the ANC – and accepted by the international liberal world and liberal media – to justify the suppression of minority rights. Of course the Courts including the Constitutional Court are just an extension of the ANC ideology and it is after all the ANC that appoints the judges. The regular and constant attacks on whites also lead to the white minority – who are really the ones who should care most – being left numbed and starting to put their heads in the sand because they are unable to deal with it anymore.

Because the ANC is so good at twisting history, they own the narrative of the absolute evilness of apartheid and whites in general and that situation in turn seems to lead to a situation where the international community don’t seem to care about the large scale farm murders and general onslaught against the white minority.

The ANC narrative is strengthened in various ways, for instance school history books. Now that the ANC completely owns history and the narrative of the day, they felt safe to implement expropriation without compensation.

If the white minority and especially Afrikaners wants to reverse the trend of slow extermination of our ethnic group, we will have to do more to stand together in a true movement so that resources can be pooled to better represent us. In this regard it is important to remember that liberal media will always take the ANC side for financial reasons.

All the major mainstream media houses in South Africa were already captured by the ANC and black elites supporting them, so it will be vital for the white minority and also the coloured minority to support our own media platforms that gives our perspective and tells our stories.

Afriforum’s 2019 farm attack stats: Defend yourself because the government won’t

Published by Crime Correspondent, South Africa News on 20th February 2020

Afriforum has released statistics of farm murders and attacks for the 2019 year and it shows that farm attacks have increased yearly from 2011.

Altogether 552 farm attacks were reported to Afriforum in 2019. It represents a 27% increase from the 433 farm attacks reported in 2018. Lorraine Claassen, an analyst with Afriforum, says the most farm murders were in the Free State last year, a total of 11. The numbers of farm murders in the Free State have risen considerably in the last 3 years. Altogether 30% of farm attacks last year occurred in Gauteng. Claasen explains that criminals can attack multiple smallholdings like those in Erasmia and Muldersdrift in one night because they are close together.

Afriforum Statistics

Claasen says that 905 people were affected by attacks on farms and smallholdings last year.

In 26% of farm attacks there was a definite attempted murder involved. Murders were committed in 9% of farm attacks and rape in 3 % of farm attacks. There was percentage wise 1,1 farm murders per week and 1,5 % farm attacks per day in 2019. The average number of attackers per incident was 3.

According to Claasen most farm attacks involved forced entry by for instance breaking down doors or burglar bars and most farm attackers came with a vehicle ( which will make patrols of rural roads essential as the Police is not doing it). Theo de Jager, head of agricultural body Saai, says in 26% of cases farm workers were the victims of attacks.

Ian Cameron of Afriforum points out that the statistics point out that it is clear that the South African Police and government are unable or unwilling or both to protect farmers and farm workers and that farmers will have to defend themselves ( so pls start to carry the firearms you have and not always keep it in the safe from where the criminals will take it if they surprise you in your bed).

Just this week it was reported that the bodies of 2 men, aged 50 and 54 were found on a smallholding at Maclear in the Eastern Cape. Their hands were tied and throats slit. Their names have not been released.

Is this justice? Trial of 7 accused in 2017 farm murder did not start yet

Published by Crime Correspondent, South Africa News on 19th February 2020

Seven black farm attackers in a farm murder case and attempted farm murder in the Kleinfontein area of North West are playing the system and dragging the case out endlessly and the Legal Aid Board is also to blame. The accused are in custody for attempted murder by shooting and wounding farmer Hennie Eksteen on 29 June 2017 on his farm and shooting farmer Dries Botha 7 times on 4 July 2017. Both incidents happened in the same area. The case was previously postponed several times after the Legal Aid Board had to appoint new lawyers, for the account of taxpayers of course, after the accused began to point fingers at each other. Two of the accused escaped out of the Hartbeespoort police cells in Dec 2018, they were later re-arrested. Eventually the magistrate postponed the case to 4,17 and 20 February this year for trial but on 4 February only one attorney from the Legal Aid Board showed up. The case was postponed to 17 February but then Adv Naas de Jager, representing 4 accused, announced that he is withdrawing because one of the accused, Caiphus Shilenge, is changing his story the whole time. The magistrate in the matter postponed the case again pending the appearance of the head of the Legal Aid Board in North West in front of the Court to explain the situation. It is uncertain when the matter will now be tried as the Legal Aid Board head in the province must appear before Court before anything can be decided.

Farm attack: 3 Police officers arrested, AfriForum considers ‘watching brief’

Published by Afriforum, South Africa News on 7th February 2020

The civil rights organisation AfriForum has noted with concern the arrest of three police members from the Ficksburg Police Station in relation to a farm attack that took place near Rosendal on 13 January 2020. The three police members appeared in the Ficksburg Magistrates Court on 3 February 2020. AfriForum is consulting with its legal team to consider all legal remedies, including a watching brief, to ensure that justice prevails. “Police members should be held to an even higher standard than the average citizen – they should symbolise a fortress of justice – not the opposite,” says Joseph Renaud, Head of Safety for the central region at AfriForum. “With the Free State farming community already under constant threat from criminals, the last thing they need is a further destruction of their already fragile relationship with the SAPS,” says Renaud. This incident furthermore comes at an inconvenient time for Police Minister Bheki Cele, who has been using every platform at his disposal to advocate for the amendment of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act 60 of 2000) in order to eventually ban private citizens from owning firearms. “We hope that this incident will bring Cele back to reality. It is unfathomable that his scheme to improve safety in South Africa should start with disarming law-abiding citizens, whilst his own SAPS apparently has sufficient problems that need sorting out first,” says Ian Cameron, Head of Community Safety at AfriForum. AfriForum will soon announce further steps with regard to the three police members and will take the necessary steps to ensure that criminal elements within the SAPS are held accountable.

Farm murders: AfriForum lays complaints against Ramaphosa and Sisulu at UN

Published by AfriForum, South Africa News on 21st January 2020

AfriForum on 21 January 2020, laid formal complaints against President Cyril Ramaphosa and Lindiwe Sisulu (in her capacity as the former Minister of International Relations and Cooperation) with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders for attempting to discredit AfriForum as a human rights defender and, in doing so, impairing the work that the organisation is doing to promote human and civil rights in South Africa.

This follows Ramaphosa’s statement on farm murders and land grabs in September 2018 during a visit to the USA. The charge is aimed at Ramaphosa’s reaction to US President Donald Trump’s tweet in August 2018 that Trump had instructed his secretary of state to investigate land grabs and farm murders in South Africa.

In reaction to the tweet, Ramaphosa said in an interview on Bloomberg (an international news channel) that Trump had been misinformed about the situation in South Africa. He said: “There are no killings of farmers, or white farmers in South Africa. There is no land grab in South Africa.”

Ramaphosa’s statements came after AfriForum’s visit to the USA in May 2018 to create awareness of the South African government’s policy of expropriation without compensation (and the associated land grabs), as well as for farm murders. Shortly after AfriForum’s trip, the then South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Lindiwe Sisulu, responded to AfriForum’s liaison tour to the USA by accusing the US President and AfriForum of spreading “blatant lies” and “misinformation” about South Africa.

AfriForum requests in its complaint that the Special Rapporteur:

Obtain a commitment from Ramaphosa and the South African government that it will effectively protect AfriForum as a human rights defender;

Hold Ramaphosa and the South African government responsible for their alleged attempts at discrediting AfriForum’s efforts to raise international awareness about gross human rights violations, particularly against minorities, in South Africa.

Request that Ramaphosa and Sisulu retract their statements on an international platform.

“Farm murders, the expropriation of property without compensation and land grabs are serious issues where human rights have already been violated and in respect of which many people’s rights would still be violated if these tendencies are not stopped.

The first step in addressing these issues is to admit that it exists. It is very worrying that the South African government ignores these issues locally, but it is unacceptable for the President to completely deny the existence of these crises in the international sphere. The attempts by the President’s spokespeople to contextualise his statements after his return to South Africa did nothing to repair the damage that was done internationally,” says Ernst Roets, AfriForum’s Head of Policy and Action.

AfriForum regards farm murders and land grabs as serious violations of human rights that, according to Roets, should be condemned by all influential role-players and governments worldwide who believe in the protection of human rights.

“That is why AfriForum actively campaigns for the international recognition of the crises of farm murders, land grabs and expropriation without compensation. AfriForum will shortly announce further actions to put international awareness of these issues at the forefront.”

During a media conference next week, AfriForum will disclose more information about this matter and future plans for raising international awareness, as well as lobbying for support in South Africa.
